For the first Asphalt Repair project of the New Year, Empire Parking Lot Services did an asphalt / concrete / sealcoating / striping combo project in Anaheim California. Sandwiched in between Garden Grove, Placentia, Yorba Linda, Villa Park, Orange, (takes another breath) Garden Grove, Stanton, La Palma, and Buena Park (and exhale). This project was a perfect project to showcase the diversity in our services, as well as the quality of our work. The project was for a local business that needed to resolve an issue with their parking lot, as well as yard, where their delivery were picked up and dropped off.  About This Asphalt / Concrete Repair Project

As mentioned above this paving project had us doing a little bit of everything. The first step of the project was the saw cutting and removal of broken asphalt, as well as broken concrete swale (also known as concrete flow line). Once the asphalt and concrete were broken into manageable pieces we loaded the dump trucks and hauled them off for recycling. Next, we moved into the concrete construction phase with the framing and pouring of a new concrete swale. Once that was done, we gave the new concrete flow lines 48 hours to cure enough to work around. With the new concrete cured we moved onto the Asphalt Repair portion of the project. All new asphalt done by Empire Parking Lot Services is installed in two lifts and as well as rolled in two passes. Once the asphalt was completed all that was left to do was to seal coat the parking lot and re stripe all of the marking back to the existing layout.

Asphalt Repair Contractors Pave Industrial Parking Lot in Anaheim Ca.

Anaheim Business Gets Asphalt & Concrete Repair

This week Empire Parking Lot Services was called out to Anaheim California to perform some asphalt and concrete repairs in a busy industrial center. The work that needed to be done was asphalt patch back, asphalt skin patching, a concrete approach and some sealcoating and striping when it was all finished. The customer was a property owner that was preparing to get their building occupied by a new tenant and however, they needed to make some repairs to the existing asphalt and concrete before they could take occupancy. The work itself required about 1 week on-site with all trades.

The Asphalt & Concrete Repair Breakdown

As stated above Empire Parking Lot Services was on the project for approximately 1 week while performing several trades. These trades included the removal of concrete and the pouring of several new concrete pads, including a concrete driveway approach. Also the project consisted of pavement repairs including the asphalt patch back of an area that was approximately (15’ x 45’). This required over 12 tons of asphalt to repair. In addition to those asphalt repairs we also performed several skin patches where the asphalt was rough but didn’t require removals. These repairs served as a temporary cosmetic solution to their problem, but helped them stay within their budget for all the necessary repairs. Once the asphalt and concrete repairs were made the last thing that was needed was to seal the entire parking lot and re-stripe the parking lines and markings including the handicaps and crosshatching.

Handicap Specs and Rules for Construction

The main factor that should be considered when installing your ADA Ramps is that certain grade requirements are met. The grades are based on elevations in the concrete and asphalt in the area the the disabled parking space is, as well as the entire route from the stall to the door of the business. This is also refereed to as slope and rise. The least possible slope shall be used for any ramp. The maximum slope of a ramp in new construction shall be 1:12. The maximum rise for any run shall be 30 in (760 mm).  Curb ramps and ramps to be constructed on existing sites or in existing buildings or facilities may have slopes and rises as allowed. A slope between 1:10 and 1:12 is allowed for a maximum rise of 6 inches (150 mm). While a slope between 1:8 and 1:10 is allowed for a maximum rise of 3 inches (75 mm). A slope steeper than 1:8 is not allowed.

Keep in mind that the ramp and stall where disabled people park must have an even traveling surface that gradually climbs while following the above elevation grade change models. Furthermore,  you need to maintain the same rules from your concrete or asphalt ramp, to the door of the business or structure.

Concrete Sidewalk Repairs How Its Done Right!

The Empire Concrete Sidewalks Repair Process:

#1  Empire Removes all existing broken concrete with our bobcat and breakers. Then we haul it off site & dispose of it properly.  For our new construction projects we will remove approx six to eight inches below finish grade of existing asphalt where the sidewalk will be installed. Santa Ana is located in Orange County South of Tustin, north of Costa Mesa, west of Garden Grove and east of Irvine.

#2  Then Empire Parking Lot Services will grade the sub base soil & compact it. After that Empire will supply and install if necessary a base material.

#3  Empire will then install all forms & expansion joints. Also we will place and fasten all forms securely.

#4  Next Empire Parking Lot Services will supply and install a commercial grade concrete. using the appropriate mix for your projects specification.

#5  As your concrete is curing, the surfaces will be broom finished and grooved to a desired look.

#6  Once cured, Empire will then remove forms and clean our working areas including all trash, string, tape, extra concrete material etc.  This would also include the repairing of gaps along the sides where forms where pulled out.
